A Southern Fried Mess

Insanity is a southern necessity…

Double Take

2858clint-eastwood-postersToday on the way home from pre-school pickup, I passed a man driving a black Suburban.  You’ll never guess who it was:  Clint Eastwood.  Yep, that’s who I thought I saw until I did a double take. My mind was playing tricks on me again ( seems to happen a lot here lately). It was just some old gentleman who resembled Mr. Eastwood, pulling out of a neighborhood.

As if Clint would purchase a house in this way-out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere  place. Imagine…Dirty Harry, the outlaw Josey Wales himself, living in Redneckville, sitting in a carpool line.  I got a good laugh at that when I thought about it.

A few months back, I thought I had run into Kurt Russel too at the corner store. I actually went back into the store and starred at the man…like really, really close up  ( I didn’t have my glasses on).  It wasn’t him and I noticed that once he turned  to leave, his gut edged it’s way off the counter. Yuck!  Not the Kurt Russel I had remembered from the movies. No, this was just a local guy frequenting his corner store for beer.  I excused myself for having invaded his personal space, but that I had thought he was someone else.  I suddenly felt very silly, turned around, and left quickly.

All of this leads me to a question: what movie star/stars have you seen or thought you saw in your hometown or while on vacation?

  1. none that I can think of, but imagining the Kurt Russell thing made me LOL. I wish I could have been there for that!

Hey Adam!!! hope your new year is going well. Yep, the man was definitely not Kurt Russell. If It was, Mr. Snake Plissken has really let himself go.

  2. When we were in Nashville this past Christmas, Brody and Kristin tool us to “J Alexanders” a very nice place for dinner. Brody told us to “very casually” turn around and there was Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban just sitting having dinner. No one bothered them. they just had a nice dinner and conversation. I was very happy for them. But I stared a lot!!!!!

    Love you, Barb

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or thought I saw someone in my home town but I’ve seen a few D listers when I’ve gone to Santa Monica to visit my sister. Though once in the LA airport Terrance Howard walked by. That’s probably as famous as I’ve seen. When I was there a couple of weeks ago I went into a T-shirt store on Venice Beach and the Asian man working the counter asked if I was an actress LOL! What a joke! I should have asked him who he thought I was.
